So we researched away, and came up with some great ideas for water filters including clay water filters, charchoal water filters, gravel water filters, two pot sediment systems and UV cleaning systems. Tomorow, we will finalize the design and hopefully do drawings and bang out details.

Hey Everyone,

First I will explain what Career Trek is and what we have been doing. Career Trek Phase 2 is an 8 month program run for grade 9 students who are less likely to go on to post secondary education. The students are hand selected because their respective schools think they are something special.

There are around 9 projects being run this year, and this one in particular is run by Engineers Without Borders Manitoba. The idea is to get the students thinking about engineering and technology as it can help people in developing countries.

The first few weeks were spent on introducing the students to development, energy sector, water and sanitation sector, and agriculture and food processing sector. Then we moved onto our design component.

I am excited to say that last week we officially decided on our first project. The students will work on building a full scale water filter for a developing country. Tonight we will start research.
